Before moving to Park City, Kathy and her husband Brad called Las Vegas their home.Ā Brad was working as an executive with a gaming company and Kathy taught special needs kids in the Las Vegas school district.Ā They had a second home in Park City and were avid skiers so they visited often. Several years ago, while skiing at Deer Valley, Brad had an ascending aortic aneurysm on the mountain and Kathy had to give him CPR to save his life. Brad was taken to the University Of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake where he had 10 massive strokes and surgery. He remained in the hospital under supervision for the next year and couldn’t walk or speak for five years. The doctors spelled doom and gloom for Bradās future but he and Kathy refused to accept the negative prognosis. Kathy spent much of her career as a therapist working with people with traumatic brain injuries so, in typical Kathy style, she got to work helping the love of her life recover.
They decided to move make Park City their permanent home so Kathy could be close to Brad as he recovered and Brad began to improve bit by bit, day by day. When Kathy wasnāt at the hospital she spent her time with their three yellow labs. Brad is focused and a bit stubborn. He was determined to get healthy and back to work. Ā His recovery was so miraculous that Kathy had free time on her hands. Kathy has boundless energy. She loves to work with her hands and is always tinkering or improving something.Ā So naturally she found something to do that not only gives focus for her creativity and energetic spirit but that also brings joy to the people around her.Ā A few leather belts she found in her closet, some silver conchos she had laying around and a visit to the leather crafting store for tools, and in no time Kathy had created collars for all three of her yellow labs.
Boomer was the first to sport his stylish collar and thus āBoomā Dog Creations was born. Years later Brad has had an miraculous recovery and is back to work, Kathy works every day in her shop alongside her black lab, Ace and Deuce her French Bulldog using responsibly sourced and high quality repurposed leather and embellishments . She is excited to share her love of the leather and silver artistry with you, your pets and your friends!
