The White Pansy is a print created from Hand Rolled Pastel on Paper. This piece is my homage to the painting Venus Rising from the Sea that was created in 1822 by Raphaelle Peale, the son of a noted Colonial American artist Charles Wilson Peale. C.W. Peale is most remembered by his full length portraits of America’s first president, George Washington. I was always impressed with how the younger Peale created such a delicate dimension with such a limited palette.
These are printed reproductions of the original hand rolled pastel on paper.
